Full review

I went to Mountain Creek a lot last year but I don't think I'll be going back. They have a great deal on the Triple Pass card - 3 lift tickets for about $69, but that's not enough to entice me back. The biggest drawback is that the crowds are worse than anywhere in the country, even during the week. There were some days last winter that the mountain was so crowded that the lift lines went UP the mountain. The management has made some decisions to increase their profit at the expense of the skier/rider experience; for example, they have recently spent money on a multi-million dollar hotel/condo building rather than add some desparately needed lifts, trails, and snowmaking equipment which would help ease the crowds. They know that the money is in condos. The other big complaint is that their snowmaking system stinks. The quality of the snow is ok, they just don't make enough. When all the other resorts in the region are close to 100% open, Mountain Creek is usually about 70% open. Often that means that there will only be one trail down from the top of a quad lift, and you can imagine how crowded that gets. Usually it's all the black diamonds that are closed. If they would just make an effort to keep more trails open it would help a lot. Finally, Mountain Creek has one of the worst trail/lift systems in the country. There are many flat spots and it is difficult to move across the mountain. The only good thing is that the terrain parks are excellent (but crowded) and the superpipe is great (not as crowded).
