I love Hidden Valley and would recommend it to families, beginners, and anyone from the NYC or Long Island area that wants to ski close by. It only takes us 1 1/2 hours from the middle of Long Island to get there. I am not a great skier, and I have found the beginner lift easy to get on. It moves slowly enough for me to get into position. The attendants on the lifts are great. The beginner area is long enough to not be boring. I have skied on the intermediate slope and found one section a little too much of a challenge. If you are a really advanced skier I think this resort might be a bit small for you, with not enough variety, but everyone else should have plenty to do. Another important thing is that its not crowded and has a nice lodge with a good view of the mountain. Over the years my kids and many of their friends have learned to ski here. It's well worth a visit.
