Loon is great for families, but there is a lack of challenging terrain for an advanced skier. It feels very much like a cruising mountain, full of groomed trails. Personally, I have found Waterville to be a better mountain, but there are others who disagree. A short drive from Boston, it is perfect for a day trip, and an ideal place for a family weekend. Bottom line: highly recommend for an intermediate skier, or a family with young children. If you are more on the advanced side, drive an extra hour to Vermont or Maine, it will be worth it!- Was this helpful?
