Plan to Escape Crowds

Full review

Loon is easily accessed (99% highway driving) from the Boston area, and as such can get crowded on weekends. Given Loon's modern lifts (multiple high speed quads plus a gondola) and layout (3 distinct skiing areas -- all with good terrain) - with a little bit of planning these crowds can be escaped. Both North Peak and South Peak offer long, challenging runs serviced by high-speed quads. Depending upon the time of day on the weekends, these areas can be either completely empty or overflowingly full (20+ minute lift lines). If you can arrive early, eat lunch at slightly off-times, and move from area to area as the crowds arrive, you can spend a great day enjoying the very good terrain at Loon.
