Close, skis bigger than it is, great views
outdated base lodge facilities, grooming
Started with a season pass here last year (and again this season). Great deal if you buy the previous spring. It's a historic ski area dating base to the 1930's. The base lodge dates from this era - and shows. It is a bit tired and could use some updates, but is otherwise functional.
This is a classic New England ski area. The ski trails are well laid out and offer mostly intermediate skiing. There is challenge in the glades (when they have enough snow), and some expert trails. Sometimes, i don't think the snow quality or grooming are up to top notch nearby resorts such as Sunapee - but this area is owned by the county and not a private company.
There are great views of Mount Washington. They have added a year round Zip Tour (longest in the US), as well as a summer tree course. They also have tubing, and also a Big Air Bag to practice your inverted aerials - if you are so inclined.
