Bretton Woods is a posh resort with great easy skiing on rolling groomers -- and enough glades to keep good skiers interested. Ski the mountain left to right as you face uphill -- moving right as the day goes on to keep ahead of the crowds. It faces Mt. Washington across N.H. Route 302 and can be very, very cold so dress for it. I've never had a bad day at Bretton Woods, although one early December visit found all the snowmaking guns roaring away and only a few hundred yards of trail clear of blowing snow -- but that can be said of any area at the beginning of the season. And I'm told that many skiers actually enjoy skiing through snow guns. Go figure.
