The snowmakers and groomers here are magicians. Skied Sun to Thurs. SS is outstanding. Cascade, firm and durable. EF thin and rough at the top, soft all the way down. Slimmest has good coverage for ride out. Great Northern good coverage, little firm in spots, offering good ride to Mouse Trap, Chute or Highline bumps. Bittersweet a bit thin, but goog to very good coverage on Skylark. Double Dipper will be excellent if they open it... trust me:)
Provided that it does not get too warm this week, my bet is that there will still be good top to bottom coverage on 10 major routes. With no skiers there, you can have a blast at reduced rates. Go for it.
Skied Sunday River this past weekend. Amazing cover for one of the worst winters on record. There were many trails open with snow edge to edge. Based on primary snow making trails were solid. Only disappointment was that the mountain was groomed flat. No moguls. ThThat's
This Winter in the Northeast timing was everything and today we nailed it. Pretty much the last true Winter day with snow from the days before, below freezing temps, just a little ice, bluebird skies, light traffic, and 2/3 of the main mountain open. My first trip to Stowe and the trails satisfied my inner-bomber nicely. Maybe my last runs of the season. I wish this weather would stick around.
