Spoiled, pampered skiers must stay away, as this is not the resort for you. You're much better off at Heavenly, Northstar or Squaw paying outrageous ticket prices for mediocre skiing. Mt Rose can be very windy and cold. Lifts shut down at the drop of a hat or helmut. There is no warming hut at the top of the mountain, so be prepared to freeze your butt off. The chutes are way too difficult for over 90 percent of the skiers there, and you always hear the sounds of a helicopter taking some poor soul to Reno, to the emergency hospital. When busy, the parking lots are too small, and the lift lines can be up to a five minute wait.
But, if your looking for the most difficult, and challanging skiing in the West, then you've come to the right place. Check out their webpage for special ticket pricing.
I've been skiing Mt Rose for over 25 years, and it's easily the best place in the Tahoe region! (When conditions are good).
