I went to Red Lodge this last President's day weekend. I really liked it. My wife and I found the town to be charming and the people friendly. Our bed and breakfast was fantastic. The mountain itself offered varied terrain. The prices were lower that what I had been paying in New England, and you can imagine that the scale of Red Lodge is grander than the eastern resorts. The lack of lodging on the mountain is just fine by me, as that keeps the focus on the snow experience rather than a resort experience. The only real gripe is the long drive to get there, but I live in the plains and you need alpine for alpine skiing.
