Good snow yesterday but it's blown out today. 60 mph gusts. Closed the Lone Tree lift after the wind blew the chairs into the lift pole. Crowds are still light and there's still some powder in the trees. Zero ice. So if you're okay with some heavy winds you'll have a great time!

Also, the public transportation and shuttles may have improved since I've been there, but I think it is worth it to rent a SUV at BS. BS ski area is almost a twenty minute drive up the hill from the meadow where additional restaurants and bars are located. JH resort is also a bit of a drive from the town of Jackson.

To the UK guy, Either resort will be a great holiday. I used to work @ BS and loved it and it's people, but I think JH is more worthy of a trip from across the pond. More restaurants to choose from and such. Both have impressive stats, but I think JH has an edge as far actual skiing goes. You can ski the entire vertical using the JH tram, whereas it takes two chairs just to get to the BS tram. Less people at BS, though... Make time for a trip into Yellowstone or riding snowmobiles on a non-skiing day, you can do it from either. If you are feeling adventurous, fly into Bozeman, rent a SUV, and drive to the smaller ski areas around MT while staying at motels and eating at local bar/restaurants. Not glamorous, but fun! Bozeman and Missoula are both great towns. Just google the ski Montana website for more info. Good luck and have fun!

I was abandoned in a dangerous situation by the ski patrol at big sky. Big sky is now too big to care. They would not return my families call when I was lost and now they will not return my calls. Ski at your own risk at the biggest most unfriendly ski resort in America.
