Big Sky is the perfect all around great resort, right up there with every major name on the ski map like Keystone or Vail or Whistler. It has something for everyone. Lone Peak might have the best terrain challenge outside of corbetts at Jackson, which, incidentally, is fine once you make the initial dropoff. Lone peak on the other hand has vertical chutes that go on forever and open up in to great bowls. And the rest of the mountain just sort of lays out into great long cruisers with the perfect pitch for just turning on cruise control.
The only downsides to this place are the weather, which can either shut down lone peak or make it otherwise impossible to ski, and its location, which puts it kind of far away from a major airport like SLC.
However, that means you will NOT be running a slolomn course between all the people. If you do the work to make the trip here, you will certainly be rewarded.
