This is my familiy's favorite Twin Cities area ski place, we live 50 minutes away so it's usually weekends only for us and Buck Hill on weekdays. They have a great ski school with lots of great and patient instructors. Our family was 4 complete novice/rookies and at the end of the first day we could all ski the greens. Now a year later we come here every weekend and have a family season pass. They do a nice job grooming, the staff is friendly from the top down. We met the owner at a ski show and he is a nice guy and was genuinely interested in us and why we come to Welch, he has owned it from the beginning. The runs are great, plenty for all skill levels. Harleys Hollow is the best "green run" in the metro and Leapin Liz the best "blue run". This place is loaded with good runs. It's more spread out and has lots of forest separating many runs so the lighting is more challenging here but the night skiing is good. The food and snacks are pricey but that seems to be the way it is at ski hills, they have a 120 day season and no guarantee the weather will cooperate.
