Welch Village is a great ski area, the owner has been in the business since 1965 and has always been focused on the customer. The continual expansion of the area, leading edge snow making, expansion of the ski chalet etc. The owner will not open unless he has a strong snow base and will close when he feels conditions do not meet a quality experience for the customer which is not the philosophy of other ski area's. My dad had some investment with an area that closed in 1972 (Pince Bend ski area) owned by Gabe Cyr who in the mid 70's was asked to get back in the ski industry working at Buck Hill. The ski area owners have high regaurd for the Welch Village ski area, the ski area owners and the operation they run. The one issue Welch Village ski are team has is the weather, Wild Mtn and Afton can start their snow making earlier due to cooler temperatures. The Welch Village team does a great job even with the weather issues early in the ski season. I have skied since I was three years old, skied many of the ares in Minnesota and Welch provides a great ski experience.
