Moguls, steeps, and nice views. Lutsen has it all. With no new snow and warm temps, they're doing a great job of nightly grooming. Gets mushy in the pm so start early. The moguls are fun when they soften up, but flatter areas get real slow. Thank goodness they have a decent base. You can sit home and pray for more snow or get it while it lasts.
Snow is a definitely beginning to disappear and as such there was a lot of water forming up at the low points. The hill's staff though was aggressively attempting to mitigate this via drainage culverts and pumps, which was impressive to see such efforts. Overall I would say that while the snow was "Slow" if you want to go for a end of year run, go now as otherwise it will likely be gone by this weekend at this rate.
You won't believe it but Welch is still open. We drove from Rochester and it was worth it. Lovely day to ski. Starting to show signs of melting but you can still get it if you want it. Might be the last week. See you next season!
Awesome sunny day today. Hardly a soul on the slopes. I saw maybe 50 people total in 4 hours. Having said that, the warm temps made for slower runs throughout the day. If we get cold overnight temps, get out to Welch while the gettin's good!
Great morning for spring skiing. The snow is very good. The sun is high in the sky and temp is perfect. Thanks for another season Powder Ridge. We are lucky to have the hill so close to St. Cloud and lucky that it is so well managed!
