It's waterfall season! This morning's thunderstorms along with the rapid snowmelt are resulting in spectacular waterfalls up and down the North Shore. Travis Novitsky captured this image at the High Falls at Grand Portage State Park.

"FINALLY FREE"

After a VERY long winter with lots of late spring snow and cold temperatures, the rivers are finally opening up! This was the scene today at High Falls of the Pigeon River in Grand Portage State Park. The ice on the river has completely opened up over the past few days and the river is raging! With plenty of snow cover still on the ground up around the headwaters of the river, the water level should stay high for quite some time. This has got to be one of the latest ice-out dates on record.

Thanks to everyone who made it up to Lutsen Mountains for the 2012-13 season. It was surely one for the books that will never be forgotten. Let's all cross our fingers for a repeat next season!

Here's some pics of Ski Patrol inspecting the conditions for this weekend's skiing and riding finale. We'll be open on Saturday and Sunday, tickets are 2 days for the price of 1...don't miss out!
