For the region, Lutsen's terrain is tops. It's the perfect blend of groomers, steeps, glades, trees, and backcountry for the Midwest. Most of the terrain even stays open until April, making it one of the final few resorts to last as long.Lutsen boasts one of the highest vertical drops in the region and expands out over the largest amount of area in the region. It's the only place in Minnesota that I've skiied a portion of the run and stopped to catch my breath.Lutsen has no terrain park, so the environment is closer to big-mountain. Recreational skiers and beginners will love the wide open, long, rolling groomed runs. Advanced skiers will enjoy the tree and glade skiing, as well as the steeps. Racers will enjoy the GS and SL slopes that were used to train some of the members of the USA Ski Team on. All in all, Lutsen has something for everyone.
