lodging discount, ski access from condo, scenic, nice facility
Many runs and chairlifts closed, sauna and hot tub closed, ungroomed runs, no terrain park
This is the best place in Minnesota to ski, and we got a great 50% discount for December for ski-in and ski-out lodging at Caribou Highlands; however, much of the mountain was closed with no explanation why. One chairlift on Eagle mountain was not running, and another was not running on Moose Mountain. All black and double black runs were closed on Eagle mountain, and many others were roped off. We got 6 inches of fresh powder and most runs on Eagle mountain were still left ungroomed by snowcats and roped off as closed. Same story with the terrain park- covered in powder and ungroomed. Who would have guessed you could take a chairlift and look down onto runs that are "out of bounds" as one ski patrol yelled at us when we ducked ropes to ski the good runs! (even though they were ungroomed)
Lodging was great, but half of the sauna and hot tubs were open. We had to walk 15 min in the snow to another complex for a sauna, because the 2 saunas in Caribou Highlands were not open. The housing discount was great, but I almost asked for some refunded money because so many things were closed during out stay....
