Full review

I have skiied Afton a hand full of times. It is certainly convenient to the Twin Cities. Also for those coming from the South, Afton offers more than Whelch Village, which is a smaller ski area to the south. Certainly a pretty large sized ski area (240+ acreas). Along with variety Afton offers a huge lift capastiy 20,000 riders per hour. This is definatley good cause it can get busy quickly...too quickly. With business comes chewed up snow and ice. Afton also seems a little flat in areas simply because the runs are too long for the vertical. The vertical is actually closer to 200' then 350' according to my research. This aside Afton offers great variety, large area ( by midwest standards). Definately makes top 20 in the Midwest I think it's an excellent Midwest ski area, but traveling to Giants Ridge, Lutsen, or maybe Spirit would provide a better experience. Afton is highly recomended during the week when theres less people and rates are cheaper.
