I got mixed stories about this place. I heard it was recently under new ownership and being updated. This is a GREAT hill... Really carved up to have agreat STEEP run for the skiers on one side... The beginners area is a really small hill with a Tow Rope that is not part of the main mountain...(Nothing special and kind of out of the way for parents)Mix of terrain down the middle and a great/long gentle GREEN beginners run that really lets people work on their turns at the other end. I have not been on BETTER GROOMED TRAIL IN THE MIDWEST for over 10 years. I told my kids this how they USE to groom trails. Not a patch of ice on the entire hill. (They do have snow guns). The only drawback is that 90% of the people use the main MIDDLE lift. It is a long slow/old lift with a VERY steep exit area. (Lots of wipe outs) Is the main lift was HIGH SPEED DETACHABLE QUAD LIFT this place would rock......The line was a 'little' long and I would say you would average about 5 runs an hour on Jan. 2nd. The advanced skiers took the smaller lift and had a really fast steep hill. The beginners area lift was an old T Chair. The main Terrain Park was mainly two HUGE JUMPS.. They had a smaler area with a few jumps a rail and a box. It was incorporated into the hill, thus you had to do the complete run to take part. Not separate nor did it have its own tow rope. The cafeteria was crowded and average. The Sports Bar was really nice with a great menu and fair prices. We did not stay at the Lodge but I heard from a few people the the Condo's are better than the rooms. The condo's are ski in and ski out. Right NEXT to the advanced lift. This place is really a hidden GEM if you have people of all abilities. The trails are wide and as mentioned, the grooming is great. If this place is really under new ownership and they are planning some more improvements, it would be really exciting. Much more laid back and diverse than Ski Brule. A great place for parents and kids to mix. Pro Shop was pretty much out of stuff. Nothing with PINE MOUNTAIN on it for the kids. I also have not seen skiers and boarders share a mountain this well in a few years. (I have not seen that many skiers or ONE PIECE female snow suits in a long time !)
