If you live in the Midwest or are visiting it is well worth the drive to ski here. Great lake effect snow daily/weekly is the norm most of the time. By far the best terrain around the Midwest. You'll usually get to experience some powder which is quite rare in the Midwest. It isn't for people looking for long cruisers or just an easy day on the hill. This place makes you work. Tree skiing is out of this world for midwest. Check out there website as they have a great video that lets you see exactly what you'll be skiing. I'd recommend staying in Houghton. It's about 30-35 mins or so from the hill but at least you have your choice of lodging and places to eat. You can find rooms from about $50 to $90 a night with pool/hottub/sauna. Small bar scene but its better then nothing. Cons.....Really all I can say is its very basic for anmenties. Your not going to find a resturant or bar. All there buildings are old military yurts. I usually just hit up Subway on the way through Houghton or brown bag it. They do have some basic food available(snacks for the most part). Seems odd they won't at least run a simple cook out or something. Most people bring there own food in so its some lost revenue by offering only the basics. If your thinking about it just do it. You will not be disappointed in the quality of skiing.
