Skied there March 21,08--I like the longer runs and the steeper pitch that the bulldozing has wrought--but I have a couple areas that are sketchy. 1st--why not bulldoze the former BoBuck area and Bullnose to blend into the North Peak? It would be for 2 great hills blending old with new...also, there is no fence to speak of on Smiling Irishmen, a beginner run, so if you slip, you are going over a cliff (the old bobuck site). Uncool. The run outs on the T and Q chairs is way to narrow--bottlenecking. And the bad part of the manmade peaks? there is nothing to stop you from going over the backside, like a snowfence and there is no wind protection. I grew up skiing at caberfae when the hills were scattered through the woods, and though it wasnt as much vertical, it had such fun character. I like the new cant of the slopes, its VERY fast, but miss the character. For skiing in the trees, rather than from Above, INTO the trees.......go 1/2 hour north to crystal. Very aggressive in saving caberfae from bankruptcy in the 80's, but needs some new life. All in all, though, the slopes ARE fast and much longer, which is a plus.
