I just spent a day out at Boyne Mountain. I have skied in the past few years about 10 different Midwest resorts. I don't understand the slow lifts complaint, as for the Midwest, these lifts were moving fine. I went mid-week so can't comment on the weekend lift lines, but midweek, I never waited. Grooming was excellent, traversing the hill to teh different runs was quite easy and fun. This hill has the steepest runs I have found in the Midwest. The lift operators went out-of-their-way to ensure you were having a good time. I also liked the small amount of tree-skiing available, although the trees are a bit close together, it is the only decent tree-skiing I have found in the Midwest. Great warm-up for a ski trip out west.
Final note, add time for the bridge closed coming from the south, and watch closely for the detour signs or you could add some significant time to your trip,
