Boyne Highlands can claim more vertical, but for those who ski the blacks, the Mountain is definitely the more challenging of the two Boynes. Hemlock, Idiot's Delight, The Meadows, Superbowl, FIS, and South McClouth have been the proving grounds of Michigan skiers for years. When the bumps are built up on Nose Dive, it can be thought of as our miniature version of Killington's Outer Limits.
In an attempt to tame the place a bit, they recently (within the last decade) added a big cache of green runs way off to the right side referred to as Disciples Ridge. It caters heavily to families, meaning it's extremely flat and boring terrain once you're above the age of, say, 6. The only reason to ride the Disciples Ridge chair is so you can hotdog it on the resort's other narrow, steep, double-black run, Devil's Dive.
