Overcrowded and small, lots of trudging between lifts

Full review

Wachusett is better than Nashoba Valley, but it isn't that great. In fact, it's a pretty sad situation. Lots of trails have potential to be great mountain cruisers, but are very crowded because of the tight layout. Smith Walton is narrow and crowded at the same time-the worst trail combination-and there is only one uncrowded trail: Lower Smith Walton. The moguls are very icy on 10th Mountain. The narrow, classic new england style trails are rarely open. The base lodge is also crowded, dirty, and unpleasant. The designated family trails are victims of their family friendliness. They tend to be very crowded with beginners going straight down in snowplows. The beginner trails are isolated from other trails, but very flat and the chairlifts going to them are s-l-o-w. Wachusett is not good, just take the extra hour drive to Pats Peak.
