Frankly, Wachusett is the sort of mountain that is great when one has to choose between going skiing and not going skiing, but it pales in comparisson with resorts farther North. Be warned, it can get old pretty quick. There are only 3 reasonably steep trails on the entire mountain- Smith Walton, Coniffer, and Tenth. I ski at Wachusett alot, mainly because skiing at Wawa is better than not skiing when I cant get a ride farther North. Great beginner mountain- no point paying for a more expensive lift ticket and longer drive up North when the beginner won't need it. Lots of ski clubs go to Wachusett, including mine, so watch out on Wednesday and Friday evenings- the place gets jammed with people. Not really impressive terrain for the more advanced skier (last time I went to Sunday River, I skied White Heat, the longest steepest run in New England, 8 times in a row), so take my opinion with a grain of salt. Apres Ski, there is a Starbucks, as well as the traditional sort of food found at most resorts.
