Great mix of skiing and après, some awesome bars and restaurants in the town, being a tax haven the alcohol is well priced. Skiing was great, been as a beginner and intermediate and enjoyed both times equally.
Great snow condition, good wide runs great for practicing turns, super difficult to get lost so great in mixed ability groups, great town
only 2 sides of the valley so number of runs in limited

Having skies in most European countries I looked forward to our Christmas ski holiday with all 15 members of my extended family. If you can reach the beautiful Livignio valley with a 3 hour transfer all the better, I wish we could have! I would suggest finding your accommodation not directly facing the Main Street as even though traffic is pretty light it certainly affected the quality of sleep. It didn’t help that we were on the ground floor so had to also put up with loud probably drunk revellers returning from a night out. The quality of the snow was excellent. There was enough length of runs to keep my family amused but at the same time don’t compare this resort to the likes of Tignes / Val D Isere etc! If our children had been any younger (8 & 10) and less good skiers then catching the bus with skis etc would be quite challenging. They didn’t have lessons this time but I saw many taking place and really liked that the ski schools have a maximum of 8 children per instructor (unlike in France where is can be up to 14 per group). We found the local Italians charming and helpful. The food quality was very good and price varied depending if you decided to have something on the mountain side or back in town. We also took a day off mid week (when it was very snowy) and took the 1:15 hours to the Spa town of Bormio for about 10 euros return. A very relaxing day out but if you want to go to the other spas in Bormio apart from Terme spa then apparently you need to book at peak times at least 2 months ahead! I did go to shop so can’t comment on this apart from the spirit price was certainly cheaper than in the UK.
Good value, wide nursery slopes, not busy (Christmas 2017)
3 hour transfer, 20 minute bus ride to the other side of the valley for other ski area

Unfortunately I found that there was no order or queuing system for the lifts, many times it was a free for all on the gondolas in particular. Lots of rude people barging their way through you to the front of the queue. At first we were a bit surprised that this was happening, after a while we realised that there was a very high percentage of Russians in resort. Make of that what you will. It rather tainted our experience of Livigno, I will not be in a hurry to return because of this experience. However the Ski area was enjoyable.
Nice town, Duty Free, Food was very good quality and value where we ate. Lots of intermediate terrain.
Ski area is fragmented making it difficult to ski/board between areas so you end up getting the bus a bit too much.

I’ m the one who is fond of hiking and biking. Recommend everyone to enjoy such kind of activities over this place. Proper Directions and routes were kind of add-ons to me. Must visit….

I first went to Livigno in December 2008, which was actually my first winter holiday and my first time on a snowboard. I had an amazing time with my best mates family. We were all beginners and it was a great experience. The slopes were perfect to start out snowboarding or skiing and move onto developing your skills into the intermediate bracket. The town itself is really nice with a lot of charm and some great restaurants, lunch time places to eat and shops scattered along the valley. I went back with friends the next year and we just as good a time as the previous year. Livigno is definitely a special resort nestled deep within the alps and borders with Switzerland. The resort is high so snow coverage is excellent even from early on in December so going over xmas isn't a problem. There is also a lot to do, including snowmobiling, dogsledding, bum boarding etc. The resort is also super cheap (probably one of the cheapest in Europe) due to its tax-free status, which makes a holiday in Livigno really good value for money, especially for first-timers. Tuition quality is also top notch as there is a massive ski and board lessons programme, which should definitely suit families and beginners. But inters shouldn't be put off by this as there are a range of varied main areas, some runs of which are really challenging and exciting. Freestylers and park rats should also have fun here. Make sure you go in Feb or March as the excellent snowpark at Mottolino will be open. You can also catch the Burton RiverJump in mid to late season, depending on the year which, I believe, is a TTR five star event. Overall this place is a brilliant Italian resort with great boarding/skiing for beginners and inters, and is a great place to spend a week or two. The nightlife however is a little lacking but if you go with a company like Neilson, their reps are guaranteed to offer you a fun week, picking out the best of their bars and clubs to venture into late at night. However, this is a perfect place for families.
Perfect for beginners and inters, great for families, charming village, lots to do
Might be limited for advanced riders, not much nightlife

Went on my first snowboarding trip January 2009, a squad of us decided on Livigno, i'm now totally hooked! Booked a weeks lessons with the Madness Snowboarding school, great bunch of guys, no more than 6 in our group, instructors very helpful, attentive and most importantly, encouraging and enthusiastic. The resort itself is very cheap, both alchohol and cigarettes are dirt cheap if that's your thing. Eating out is also cheap, the food in Marco's is great but there are plenty of great restaurants dotted around the village. If you go at the right time of year, the Livigno Riverjump comp is on, part of the Snowboarding TTR tour, great night's fun. The boarding/ski-ing itself is also great, once you get to grips with it as a beginner. A lot of more seasoned ski/boarders say that it is quite small and that you could do it all in a week, which is probably true but i've now been 3 times and i'm a firm believer that you make your own fun while you're there. There are plenty of wee runs where you can drop in of piste for a bit and there are now 2 bordercross parks at either side of the mountain as well as the excellent terrain parks, complete with airbags, for learning how to nail those landings of the big kicker! All in all, once you get over the crippling transfer time from the airport, about 4 1/2 hours, you'll have a fantastic time.
Great for beginners, good snow, cheap prices.
Long transfer time......That's it.

Livigno is spread for miles along a valley road and I was quite amazed when I first saw it to see dozens and then hundreds of small shops, one after the next, all selling alcohol or perfume or electrics. Prices were very low for apres skiing, so we had a good time with a vast choice of bars. The ski runs are generally, fast, wide and sunny, up abopve the tree line. We had a nice apartment but had to get the ski bus which was irregiular and crowded to reach the base of the lifts so think if I went back I'd make sure I stayed within walking distance of the lift. The only other downsidewas very long transfers from Zurich airport to get to Livigno. Don't think any other major airports are muich closer either.
Cheap apres ski, long season with good snow due to altitude
Far away from everywhere
Just back from a week in Livigno, and whilst the 5 hour transfer was a bit of a nightmare, the resort really is worth it. Our hotel was located at the top end of the village backing on to the piste, but it really wouldn't matter where your hotel is as there is an excellent, frequent free bus service covering the whole of the village and linking the pistes on either side of the valley. Would imagine it would be a great place for a beginner as there's plenty of nursey slopes, however as a more intermediate skier myself (4th year) it had some excellent reds and not too challenging blacks where I've really built on my confidence and speed. The pistes were in create condition - loads of snow and didn't feel crowded at all - sometimes I was the only one on them! Would recommend it and would even head back there maybe in a few years once I've tried out a few other resorts.
