The skiing at Lech and Zürs is mostly intermediate in difficulty and you'll do your thing on manicured, ego-building terrain. Five km runs and long verticals are among the options in the circus that connects Lech with Zürs, a smaller, quieter, more exclusive resort. You can stay in the Zürs sun all day on treeless slopes by working both sides of the valley.

Good off-piste skiing and riding also is available in both resorts. Zürs is higher and gets abundant snowfalls. Much more difficult terrain is just a short car or bus ride over the mountain to Stuben and St. Anton. A common ski pass opens gates at 85 lifts in the Arlberg region.

Lech is one of 12 resorts in five alpine countries that jointly promote themselves as “Best of the Alps.” No one can quarrel with that self-declaration in this case.

The Arlberg Region is considered the birthplace of the modern Alpine skiing technique and is the home of the Ski Club Arlberg, the world's oldest ski club, founded in 1901. Lech is also the starting and finishing point for "Der Weisse Ring" ("The White Ring"), a circle of runs and lifts that is a popular tour and the scene of an annual race involving both experts and fun-seekers.

Gateway airports include Zurich (200 km), Munich (330 km), and Friedrichshafen (125 km). Take the train from Zürich or Munich to Langen, then bus or taxi to Lech or Zürs. An airport ski bus runs every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from Zurich and daily from Friedrichshafen.
