Kitzbühel is a medieval city turned popular destination resort in Tyrol, Austria, alongside the river Kitzbühler Ache. It has become one of the world's favorite ski resorts. It's a particular favorite of U.K. skiers on holiday because of terrific skiing, a party atmosphere at night, and because it is lower and generally warmer than other resorts in the Alps.

The town is located between the Hahnenkamm (1712 m) and Kitzbühler Horn (1996 m). The Hahnenkamm is home of the annual World Cup ski races, including the circuit's most important event, the downhill race on the world famous Streif run. You can ski or ride it, too. But, hey, you're not going for gold. The 3S Aerial Tramway has the highest span in the world.

The ski safari enables you to discover the entire skiing area from the Hahnenkamm to Pass Thurn. The tri-cable, continuous loop cableway service means you can do the complete tour in both directions without ever having to take your skis off. Length of downhill slopes is 35 km. There are 56 lifts. The best bet is the Kitzbühel Alpine Ski Pass.

The villages of Brixen im Thale, Kirchberg, and Westendorf form Brixental valley, all located amidst the Kitzbühel Alps.

Gateway airports are Salzburg (80 km), Munich (170 km), or Innsbruck (100 km). Take the train from Munich or Innsbruck via Wörgl. Drive the Autobahn from Munich or Innsbruck via Wörgl or, from Salzburg, via Lofer.
