I spent parts of a couple of days in Cervinia during my weeklong trip to Zermatt. Cervinia has the best terrain of the Italian side of the Zermatt resort. It also has some of the best snow in Zermatt because it faces the sun so it's not as hard and icy as a typical European resort. There are excellent intermediate and beginner runs throughout the valley, but nothing that truely qualifies as an expert run. For anything steep, you'll have to go off-piste so I spent most of my time on run 37 and the lower part of 7 running high speed turns until my legs were burning. Cervinia does benefit from being connected to Zermatt because it offers a little change of pace from the type of slopes on the Swiss side.
