Isere: Linked Resorts With Lively Apres-Ski -
Isere - named after the Isere River - is a region in the Rhone Alpes. It is an area of diverse landscapes, from lush green valleys and quiet forests to vast plateaus, peaks, caves and gorges.
Alpe d'Huez is one of the major ski resorts in Europe. It makes up part of the Grandes Rousses massif ski area, along with the neighbouring resorts of Vaujany, Auris-en-Oisans, Villard-Reculas, Huez en-Oisans, and Oz-en-Oisans. A Grand Rousses Lift Pass offers access to the entire region.

With 236 kilometres of piste and 84 ski lifts, the Grandes Rousses massif ski area offers something for all levels with 90 green runs, 78 blue, 86 red, and 38 black. Skiers and snowboarders can enjoy sunny slopes ranging from 1000 to 3330 metres altitude.
The area also boasts plenty of off-piste opportunities from the 2808-metre Dome des Petites Rousses and the summit of the 3330-metre Pic Blanc. Alpe d'Huez's nightlife offers an exhausting choice of restaurants, bars, cafes, as well as late-night venues for clubbing.
The resort of Lans en Vercors is a pretty, old town surrounded by natural parkland. It offers direct access to 26 kilometres of skiing, with 21 pistes served by 17 lifts. At 1810 metres, the resort has reliable snowfall and there's a funpark at the bottom of the ski slopes at Les Montagnes.
Villard de Lans is a large resort with 130 kilometres of pistes reaching a height of 2170 metres. Its 32 pistes are connected by 28 lifts and include four green runs, eight blue, nine red, and eight black. There are a further nine lifts connecting Villard de Lans to the neighbouring Correncon en Vercors. Other winter activities here include dog sledding, ice climbing, and snowshoeing. Apres ski in Villard de Lans features plenty of lively bars and two nightclubs.

The authentic village of Saint Pierre de Chartreuse offers access to 35 kilometres of pistes and 70 kilometres of cross-country trails. It is known for its charming centre, wooded runs, and high-speed chairlift.
Gresse en Vercors has alpine ski slopes ideal for families, beginners and intermediates with its five green runs, two blue, six red, and one black. From the mountain, skiers can enjoy views of the Grand Veymont, Mont Blanc, Ecrins national park, and Monteynard Lake. Other winter activities include dog-sledding with huskies, snowshoeing, night skiing, and cross-country skiing.
The pretty town of Meaudre features 18 kilometres of downhill skiing as well as cross country skiing, snowshoeing, snow hiking, and snowmobiling. The town also offers a good selection of shops and restaurants.

Saint Christophe en Oisans has ski slopes ranging from 1420 to 1740 metres altitude. It also offers night skiing, cross-country skiing, and backcountry ski touring. Non-skiers will find plenty to occupy them too, with winter climbing, ice climbing, snowshoeing.
Chambery Airport and Grenoble Airport are just one hour's drive away from the resorts of Isere, so skiers won't have to waste precious skiing time travelling. Alternative nearby airports include Lyon and Turin.
