I make a 45 min drive at least 3 times per week to go to sundown. you can literally ski to and from your car. Even on MLK day the liftlines were <5 minutes. everyone is welcome; jeans or arc'teryx. it is not uncommon to see 2 or 3 people stop to help someone who has fallen get their stuff back. live music at least once per week and lots of evening weekday deals if you don't want a pass.

+1 for the whiny lady to stay on her side of the river or go to WI or MI. She can spend more money for worse skiing, but she'll sure have a nice hotel room. Go to sundown to ski; go out west if you want a vacation.
