Full review

I've been skiing for 30 years, at mountains from Stowe to Silverton, so Paoli certainly isn't a challenge. But it's less than an hour from Louisville and an ideal place to stretch my legs and put in some turns. Sometimes it gets a bit patchy, but considering they had the deepest base on the East coast a few years ago, they do a cracking job making the stuff, and if you think it's too icy and overskied, you haven't gone to Vermont on a bad year. I think the lodge is comfortable, and the food served is reasonably priced. With the casino opening in French Lick, it might even be a decent vacation destination. Plus, unlike Snowshoe, there's actually a *real* town where you can escape the forcefed village.
