Lets be realistic here. The one thing to consider before visiting any midwest ski location is just that. It is the midwest, and with that being said, we don't have mountains here we have hills. We don't have the luxury to rip lines on 3000' of vertical fresh. Chestnut is a great midwest hill to satisfy that urge to get out on the snow. Yes you'll ride a lift for 3 minutes to ski 45 seconds. Find me a midwest ski area where this isn't the case and i'd be surprised. Getting down to it: Chestnut is a great place to learn and hone basic skills. Even the most advanced skier can work edging on one ski all the way down a black here and be challenged. They open early and make snow often. December dollar days is a must attend!
