Steep runs, moguls, great view of Mississippi
slow lifts

Full review

Three of us drove out to Chestnut to ski on Superbowl Sunday. We had never been there before, so we weren’t sure what to expect. We were very impressed with the terrain. The black diamonds were steep and one (Eagle) even had moguls. The view of the frozen Mississippi was picturesque. The only downside I could see to Chestnut was that the lifts were slow. This was not really an issue for us as there weren’t many people there that day, but I could see how that might contribute to long lines on other days. We stayed at a chain hotel in the town, so I can’t offer any insights into the quality of the lodging on the hill. While I did not rent equipment, the quality of the rental gear seemed reasonably good. The food at the Sunset Grill was standard cafeteria fare, and was certainly adequate. Definitely worth the travel time from Chicago-land.
