The Boise Airport (BOI) is serviced by Delta, Frontier, Horizon, Sky West, United, Southwest, and US Air with connections from many metropolitan areas. The airport is 150 miles from Sun Valley.
The Sun Valley Airport (SUN), also known as Friedman Memorial Airport, services flights from Seattle, Salt Lake City, Boise, Las Vegas, South Bend, Santa Barbara, and other locales. Delta Connection and Horizon Air are the primary carriers coming into SUN, just 13 miles from Sun Valley. All Sun Valley Resort guests are met by Sun Valley Bell Services for complimentary transportation.
The primary in-bound route is ID 75 off US 20 to the south. This drive is within the section of ID-75 designated as Sawtooth Scenic Byway. It can get a little crowded on the 12-mile stretch between Hailey and Sun Valley, as it is used by an average of 12,000 vehicles per day. Closest Interstate is I-84 to the south.
Twice daily shuttle bus service from Boise Airport to the Sun Valley Inn runs December through March. Advance tickets may be purchased by calling 800-574-8661, 208-733-3921 or going online to www.sunvalleystages.com. Tickets also may be purchased on the bus at time of departure on a space available basis.
Sun Valley itself is a complete walking village, where automobiles are unnecessary. Condominium units are located within easy walking distance of the Sun Valley Village, but complimentary bus service is also available. The Sun Valley Resort also offers continuous round-trip service from the Village to both Dollar and Bald Mountains. In addition, the Mountain Rides Transportation Authority provides free transportation throughout the Wood River Valley, including continuous round trips from the Village to both Dollar and Bald Mountains.
