Powder thursdays, good tree skiing, long runs, spread out mountain, rarely lift lines
no high speed lifts, little attention devoted to the skiing aspect
I love silver mountain, and consider it a home mountain. I have had a season pass there for 4 of the last 7 years. The mountain closes tuesdays and wednesdays, making thursdays more than epic: sometimes giving us 20-30" days! Other than chair two, I have never (in over 100 times visiting the mountain) had a line more than five people deep, and I usually just ski right on. The mountain itself is great, and the base area of the gondola is really nice, as a lot of money has been invested into the tourist side recently. The lifts, and the mountain in general, have sort of taken a back seat of late, however; no new chairs have been put up since the early 1990s, and there are no high speed lifts. I would really like to see those in charge pay more attention to the hill, and improve/expand the current lifts and available terrain.
