A resort for all abilities with great snow and short lines
It gets socked in with fog (but this usually brings the snow)
Schweitzer is a great resort for skiers/riders of all abilities. The view from the top is awesome overlooking Lake Pend Oreille. The terrian ranges from easy rolling to steep gladed and everything in between.
I should tell you that this resort has poor snow, bad terrian and long lift lines, but that would only be a ploy to keep the place to myself. In reality I don't need to say this because the snow comes regularly, the lift capacity is great, the trails offer every thing you would be looking for.
To explain my ratings
Family - this resort is the ultimate in a family resort. There are great places to stay right on the hill and large lunch facilities for the day users. The village offers many food options and the town is very close if you are looking to buy your own food. The bunny hill is located on it's own couple of runs, so the kiddies and beginners can feel safe.
Terrain - This place is much bigger than it looks from the village. With the different bowls, you can always find good snow. The runs are laid out well so that your less skilled frineds can run a blue while you rip a killer tree line and you are never more than earshot away. You pop out at the same spot and ride the lift together.
The more you know the hill the better you can avoid the "crowds" (On a holiday weekend I didn't wait more than 3-4 minutes on ANY chair and that was the busiest I had ever seen it. It's normally ski up, scan and chair.
The Terrain park could use a super pipe. Other than that, they have some decent features and you're in the sun for 80% of the day.
Nightlife- the place is pretty good with a couple of options to choose from. It's no Whistler for the party scene, but it still represents!
Overall this place is great, the value is good for the money, the resort is super fun and the snow is consistant.
