Holiday Region: St. Johann In Tyrol Is Relaxing And Fun
They call it the Holiday Region and you'll find it between the Wilder Kaiser and the Kitzbüheler Horn, two of Austria’s most famous mountains. St. Johann in Tyrol is an ideal holiday location.
Skiing is fun and relaxing, with many cozy mountain huts and snow bars along the trails. Can a warming Glühwein be far away? Not here. The vertical is 1000 metres and there are 66 km of ski runs, primarily easy and intermediate in skill level. The longest run is 9 km.
The entire ski circus includes St. Johann in Tyrol, Oberndorf, Kirchdorf, Erpfendorf, Fieberbrunn, St. Jakob i. H., St. Ulrich a P., Hochfilzen, Waldring, and Reit im Winkl. There are 54 lifts in the circus, and 22 in the Holiday Region. Check out the Kitzbuheler Pass that lets you board 247 lifts. That ought to keep you busy.
Most of the downhill slopes are on the north face of the Kitzbüheler Horn, with a short vertical. Snowboarders have a park and halfpipe. Kitz, with its enormous terrain, and plenty of expert challenge, is close by. There are many other ski areas conveniently near. After all, this is the Tyrol, the Austrian state that has 119 ski resorts. Like to cross-country ski? There are nearly 275 km of well-marked tracks through the peaceful valley, as well as 100 km of cleared walks.
You'll discover plenty of lodging choices from guesthouses to five star hotels and everything in between. Nightlife includes live music, folklore evenings, dancing, bars, pubs, and excellent restaurants.
Innsbruck is the gateway airport (100 km). Other choices are Salzburg (80 km) and Munich (160 km). The train from Innsbruck is 80 minutes and 2.5 hours from Munich.
