The Mount Grünten, a ridge with an altitude of 1738 m, also goes by the sobriquet “Warden of the Allgäu” because of it’s distinctive location right at the foothills of the Alps. Ski mountaineers like it as a small tour lasting only half a day. The northern slopes of the Grünten host several pistes for all levels of difficulty and are suitable for professionals and beginners alike. In Mittag you ski on a very snow reliable altitude.
The mountain with an altitude of 1451 m is a suitable area for snowboarders and free riders, not only thanks to the way jumping and opportunities to build kickers. In Mittag and the ski area Alpsee Bergwelt you can find many pistes suitable for families. Unparalleled in the Allgäu is the 5.1 km long toboggan run starting at the summit of the Mittag and leading over the middle station and the Untere Steig to Immenstadt.
You may also find a spacious net of cross-country ski runs for your winter vacation available if you come to Grünten and the Mittag-Ski-Center (respectively 40 km in Grünten and Mittag). The numerous skiing schools in the region attract beginners and not so experienced skiers.
