Grandvalira is both a single ski resort and a ski region, because all the lifts and ski runs of what were once six separate ski resorts and their ski slopes are now all inter-connected and all included on the one Grandvalira lift ticket.

This giant ski area which takes up most of North Eastern Andorra and has recently expanded over the border in to France, is the largest in the Pyrenees and one of the biggest in Europe and the world.

It has six key bases or access points, including Pas de la Casa, Soldeu, El Tarter, Grau Roig, Canillo and Encamp and many guide books and tour operators still refer to the ski destinations by these individual village names, but the resort itself prefers the area to now just be known as Grandvalira.

With a maximum altitude of 2,640 m and a minimum of 1,710 m, it has :
-110 pistes of 193 km,
-with a capacity for 99,600 skiers/hour,
-64 skilifts (one Funìtel, three cable cars, and 30 chair lifts),
-69 km of artificial snow pistes.

There are also three freestyle areas, one bumps stadium, four Ratrack ski routes, eight FIS approved pistes, and a mini competition stadium.

The Andorran resort of Grandvalira offers other activities such as snow-shoeing, dog-sledding, and reindeer rides. There are also adventure circuits, a children’s circuit, and an open air activity centre for non-skiers. The areas designed for small children include the Snow Club Mickey, one of only two such areas in the world.
