This mountain has the best view on lake Tahoe. Yeah, Heavenly is a close second in terms of beauty, but man does this little area pack one gorgeous wallop. This really was a fun place to ski after wading through all the crowds up in north Tahoe. It doesn't get the press, and thus lacks all the tourist crowd that so many of the other resorts tend to be plagued with. That means, especially during midweek, you can really have this place to yourself relative to skiing at Northstar or Squaw. This place is a little low key, and there is nothing exceptionally challenging here (although I did not bother to scope out the hike to terrain......), but it is worth the trip, and they will give you some good deals if you watch for them. By far, I would say if you are bringing a family, this would be the resort to go to. Small mountain, and likely with good attention from the instructors and there is also an abundance of good beginner terrain. Aside from the lack of highly challenging terrain, I would say one of the things that detracts from this resort is the separation between the north and the south base areas, which can present somewhat of a logistical challenge, but not a major one.
