A friend got a free room and lift tickets at Massanutten, so we gave it a try. I wouldn't go back if you paid me. If you've ever skied or snowboarded before, avoid this place. The "snow" is like skiing on sticky linoleum. You can't push it, you just kind of glide down. If you've never been skiing before, I guess Massanutten would be an ok place to learn because the "mountain" is mostly flat and wide . On the other hand, if you learn here, you'll have to relearn everything when you go to a real resort. If you're planning on going to Massanutten, you might as well keep driving and go to Snowshoe.
For what it's worth, there is a bar with an ok beer selection in the lodge, but we left there and went to Harrisonburg for a better scene.
