We recently did a trip from the front range to Crested Butte with the family. We decided to stop at Monarch on the way and were very plesently surprised by everything at the area; the staff is as helpful and friendly as any, they all seem to like where they work and it shows. The Hosts gave us some tips on where to find the powder stashes and we found powder everywhere. Our kids really enjoyed the ski school and actually asked to go back again.
We had a great sit full service lunch in the bar and were baclk out skiing in less than 30 minutes. The mountain is rather small by Colorado standards but it does not lack challenging terrain especially in Mirkwood Bowl. Our family really enjoyed Monarch and in fact we had a better time at Monarch than we did at CB. We'll be going back to Monarch soon to see some of the friends we made and ski nice soft snow.
