small parking lot=short liftlines, Bump runs, Catapult
Small lodge, lifts are far apart at base, summit intermediates
Overall, Catamount is a good-sized, well planned ski area in the Berkshires. Each ability level has its own lift and part of the mountain. Beginners have The Meadows complex which is mostly green other then a few intermediates. The suprising thing is that those few intermediates are some of the hardest blue trails on the mountain! On the main face of the mountain there are many blue trails and a terrain park. The terrain park requires a pass, which to me is terrible for the good freestylers (I'm just learning my way around the small park). Ridge Run is a good intermediate from the summit filled with ups and downs. By far the worst trail on the mountain is....Sidewinder! Each time I look at the trail it seems like all the mountain's speed demons are there! That's bad for the rest of us because it really is a nice trail in the morning when you're the only one on the mountain. Although Catamount is small, the black diamonds pack a decent punch for a small mountain. Off Stage has huge bumps by the beginning of January and so does half of Upper and Lower Glade. The best thing about Catamount is that the parking lot is small- get there before 12:00 or else there won't be a spot left. This equals out to very, very miminal liftlines on the summit quad. Everyone can go to Catamount!
