Area Profile
Winterberg's lifts are spread over several ski areas above local villages. They have been upgraded a great deal in recent years with high capacity chairlifts replacing predominantly surface lifts and a big investment in a state-of-the-art snowmaking system which covers much of the area. There's a challenging slope next to the bobsleigh-run (site of bob-world-championships). At weekends up to 50,000 skiers arrive from nearby German cities and over the borded from nearby Holland, there's a great party atmosphere in the evening. A large amount of terrain is also open up to 10pm at night for floodlit snow sports.
