2016/2017 Elan Ripstick 94 W ski review. OnTheSnow tested this ski as part of its women’s All-Mountain Back Category.

Elan is known worldwide for its carving skis, but it seeks to change its image with the new freeride Ripstick series. “Powder, steeps or moguls, this versatile ski can handle it,” says Wieringa, validating the new Ripstick 94 W. The 94-mm-waisted ski sports a trilogy of technology with TNT, which includes strong yet light full-length carbon tubes alongside the wood core, vibration-absorbing VaporTip inserts in the tip and tail, and an Amphibio Profile, which produces rocker on the outside edge and camber on the inside edge, thus a left and right ski. Tester tallies resulted in high scores for float, which surpassed scores for carving. “Nice width and profile for deeper days,” says Brown. “I’d prefer more bite on harder surfaces, but overall this lively ski is easy to maneuver and can handle speed.”
