2016/2017 Völkl Mantra ski review. OnTheSnow tested this ski as part of its men’s All-Mountain Back Category.

The Mantra is a fully-rockered ski, meaning that the shape has a constant curvature from tip to tail. Several testers commented on the rocker profile, which changed last season for better flotation along with increased taper in the tip for better performance on the groomers: “Edge hold and stability are great, but perhaps the reverse camber makes it come around a little slower?” questions Loomans. Overall, testers were impressed with the ski’s stability and less enamored with its playfulness. Construction of the 100-mm-waisted ski includes a race-inspired torsion box layup, vertical sidewalls, a layer of titanium and a wood core. “It’s a pure beast in GS and SG turns,” says March. “Once in the turn, this solid, strong ski is not going anywhere.”
