Three skis—the 84, 80 and 77—in Völkl's RTM series, or Ride the Mountain, are fully rockered. Is this strange for frontside skis? Testers didn't think so. "The rocker really works for this ski," said Volckhausen. "Send them down the fall line and they won't disappoint." The addition of full rocker creates a slight curve (as opposed to the banana-shaped fully-rockered powder skis), providing complete edge contact from tip to tail for grip and carving performance. "Forget the quick turns, but this ski is a carving monster," said Beidleman. "Carves like a GS race ski," agreed Mahon. Construction includes race-oriented reinforcement channels over the sidewalls and edges to prevent chatter and increase stability, poplar and beech wood core, and a layer of titanium.
