As part of Atomic’s Vantage series, the Elysian features new Backbone technology. The vertebrae-inspired layer is made from lightweight, yet strong carbon, designed to increase edge grip and stability while providing a smooth flex. The twin tip design makes it jib-friendly and slight tip rise adds floatation and maneuverability. Dual-layer Step Down Sidewalls, a full wood core and camber underfoot provides hard snow performance. “Feels light under the foot but still solid,” said Heller. “You can take this ski anywhere,” said Alder. “It holds well in long turns, easy in the bumps and a decent carver for 95 mm underfoot.”
