The skis in Nordica's all-mountain Hell & Back collection are suitable for both inbounds and out-of-bounds skiing thanks to Energy Ca I-core, a carbon and composite stringer combo in the wood core that reduces the ski's weight by 20 percent. The Steadfast is lightweight (an attractive tool for sidecountry skiers) but doesn't sacrifice hard snow performance or edge grip. "Any level of skier will appreciate this versatile, all-mountain performer," said Maybon. "It's the right mix of lively, stable and predictable." With a versatile 90 mm waist and Nordica's early rise camRock profile, which adds slight tip rocker, the Steadfast is wide enough to float, but, according to Mahon, "the default setting is carve. It excels at all speeds and turn shapes."
